Pink bus, desert and lots of fabric...
I watched Priscilla Queen of the Desert tonight, it's been a while... what a fun movie. I am a big fan of Hugo Weaving anyway, but the really funny part for me is that Terence Stamp, the guy that plays General Zod in the old Superman movies with Christopher Reeve, was the transsexual. he makes a very convincing woman, but I keep seeing him flying around and fighting Superman in my head, it makes me chuckle.
Priscilla always brings thoughts of my own adventures in fabric. I've done a fairly good job of making halloween a drag ritual since high school. A few years I didn't go out, or sometimes I was uninspired and just wore whatever costume I could grab last minute, but I've had a few memorable ones.
Last halloween was Supergirl. I have to find the pictures of that, I think a friend has some. A few other years I just went out as a hooker or slut or such... something with boobs, long hair and a dress. My favourite was halloween back in 1997 where I went as a french maid. Now that was a night. I had the outfit, complete with heels, red fishnets over black nylons, long flowing blonde locks and a mardi-gras feathered mask to top it all off. And double D balloons for good measure. The crowning touch was the goatee that I sported, it really put the icing on the cake. That ad the fact I spent the night making out with this wild and crazy girl I had been spending a lot of time with; she showed up dressed as a man, well a biker to be exact. We made an interesting show on the dance floor.
My very first time was in high school and it was during a cast party for our drama group which had wrapped up a successful run of Hollywood Hotel (with the Intermission of "Cinderella Rap" starring several folks, including none other than myself as Prince Chraming teehee!). The party was kindof lame all told, but they were playing Vogue, so I grabbed a red sequined dress and blonde wig from backstage and paraded around the dance floor. Looking back on it, the really funny part was that I didn't have anywhere to change, so I threw the dress right on over my jeans... Wig, Dress, jeans and heels. I often wonder what kind of impression that made on the other students. heehee, I hope they were disturbed. *smile*
