could it?

once upon a time, in a land, far far away.. a car broke down in the middle of a trip, at about 4:30 in the morning, in the darkness... it broke down due to sheer stupidity on the drivers part... the car came to rest on a little dirt road in the middle of nowhere, also known as Crooked Creek... with no cel phone at hand, the weary driver waited for morning to come and then walked a little ways down the road until he found a house... he knocked on the door and asked to use the phone, the kind lady let him in and gave him a number to call for a truck that would come to tow the miserable beast to the nearest garage... truck on the way, he gave the lady his sincere thanks and she wished him a good day, to which he replied, "well, it couldn't get any worse..." she admonished him and said, "don't say that, because it really could get worse" and he thought long and hard about that... years later, he has never forgotten her words, or her kindness in allowing a total stranger into her home... the ride to the nearest mechanic was an hour and a half towing the car along, and it was mid afternoon by the time the car was towed into the mechanics lot... the mechanic was readying to close for the weekend, the shop was scheduled to close in an hour, but he smiled and nodded to the stupid driver and said he'd take a quick look... the tow truck driver related the story of how the stupid driver had the misfortune of breaking down and had another 4 hours of driving to his destination... the mechanic smiled and opened up the beastly car, sure enough he figured it out in a few moments and said he'd have it done before they closed for the day... the stupid driver spent an hour or so in a small diner eating a homemade burger and a lovely vanilla milkshake, and tanks to a kind lady, a friendly tow truck driver and a smart and compassionate mechanic, he was able to make his way to his destination that very night... the moral of the story is that however bleak the world may seem, however bad a day might be, there is always something good to be found, even in the middle of nowhere...
