VICTORY IS MINE!

A rather well known Family Guy quote that was completely applicable to a work victory I had last week. Oh the sweet joy of winning. In my little circle of computers and repairs, a win is a big thing... fixing shit is rather run of the mill, but a win is such a good feeling one could almost do a dance of joy!

I went to a customer's location to take a look at a server issue he was having. He had been working with Apple's business support on the issue for about 8 months. He had emailed a detailed list of all the steps they had taken to try to resolve the issue, including 4 or 5 parts that had ben changed out. I was fairly certain that I wouldn't be able to do anything for him, but after tinkering with it for over two hours I discovered the cause of the problem, found a fix and made it work. Yeehaa! I was working on the server amidst a myriad of people so my first impulse to shout "YES!!" and do a dance was quelled. I settled for the traditional fist and arm pump along with a restrained grunt. God that felt good! Wins like that are mildly orgasmic :)

I took a trip home last weekend. It was short but sweet. A nice visit with the folks and I got to do some tech stuff for them and my brother. Computer repair as a hobby is great fun :) The drive back through near 0 visibility in the snow was less pleasant... fucking snow bastages... the traffic was fairly smooth running and the roads were clear for the most part... it was just that 'seeing' thing that was an issue. I nearly ended up in a ditch on the home stretch when I found myself last in a line of cars passing a slowpoke on highway that had been totally clear for quite some time... I was beside him when out of nowhere a completely snow covered section of road appeared under me... the car stayed the course and while at one point I slid over the edge of the asphalt, I lucked out ad regained control and saved myself. Talk about needing to clean the shit out of ones drawers... sheesh!

My life is taking an interesting upturn :) Colin and I had discussed sharing an apartment and had decided that may th first would be an ideal date to aim for. We hadn't done very much prep work or looked at any apartments, but rather randomly decided to take a peek at a building we both though looked nice and had a sign up out front. We loved it and within 48 hours had decided on it and signed the lease. It was just too good to pass up... it had just about everything we had on our list of needs and wants for a place we could share. We move in April first... it's earlier than we anticipated and we've had to do a lot of running around to get things arranged financially and organizationally, but it's all working out. Yippee! I'm so excited my teeth dance :)

Life's good. I've gotten to spend lots of time with friends lately and I've enjoyed some good times with the work crew. I'm looking forward to becoming an uncle in the next 5 weeks and also to a visit from an old friend next weekend. Excellent says I :)
