A new year upon us and a party to ring it in. The parents had a nice new years party with some of their friends over. They brought along a couple of Cape Breton's favourite celebrities, Maynard Morrison and Bette MacDonald. It was my first time meeting them, a really pleasant experience. When you get to see someone from home appear on TV, radio and theatre for years and then meet them at your own party, it's a pretty nice thing. They're kindof local heros so I was smiles all night just enjoying the experience. Great people and they brought a few of their friends along, including one of my college profs from a few years ago. All in all, for their first time here they fit in really well. It's nice meeting people who can just show up, sit in and enjoy themselves. I guess all in all, they're the same stock as my own family, bred on kitchen parties and music, so the roots are the same. I know that I had a grand time and rang in the new year with smiles and a healthy glow from white russians all night. Life is good.
On principle, I never make new years resolutions. But this year is the year of the big three ohh. When I hit 20 I told myself I could relax and enjoy myself until I turned thirty then I'd have to take a more health conscious approach to life and set some goals for myself. I started eating a bit more healthy the last two years in preparation, but I aim to walk more, exercise more, be a bit more focused on doing certain things. This is the year that it has to happen so even though I'm not making a new years resolution, 2005 is going to be a time of change for me. At least a little bit. I still refuse to grow up!
